Brush sweeping
This involves the use of ride-on or walk behind machines which have a main broom across the body of the machine, plus a smaller broom for edges. As the machine moves along, the debris is swept into a hopper which is then emptied into a waste bin. Dust skirts and various filter systems ensure that dust created is held within the machine and filtered before release

Vacuum sweeping
This involves the use of ride on or walk behind machinery which uses a fan to create a vacuum. A suction head moving along the ground draws the debris into a hopper which is then emptied into a waste bin. Some large vacuum systems use water as a dust suppressant, some use special material in the construction of the waste bag as a filtration medium
